Tosa Tengujo
A whisper of paper.
A thousand years of strength.
Hidakawashi has refined the art of ultra-thin washi in Kochi, Japan, since 1949. Long kozo fibres are prepared with care, suspended in water, and formed into an even sheet using a unique papermaking technique.
The result is remarkably transparent, flexible and strong — allowing conservators to reinforce fragile surfaces while keeping the original visible.

Conservation · Japanese kozo
The strongest fibre in the TENGU range. Unbleached Japanese kozo is cooked with sodium carbonate and impurities are removed by hand; its natural tone is especially suited to historic documents.

Colour-matched conservation
Japanese kozo fibres are yarn-dyed to harmonise with the object being restored. Developed with guidance from a public testing laboratory; custom colours are available for shades that are not extremely dark.
